AK Memories

JUNE 10 / 08

Alaska is so much more than another ski destination. For me, it felt more like a vacation. I miss it. I thought I would share some of the memories. It was an amazing month of April and I was really stoked to be a part of the trip along with JP, Pep, Sammy, Tim, and Poor Boyz. We didn't get as much ski time as we would have liked, but that's the way it goes. I went up there for the experience and that's more than I came back with. It's a place where you have to put your time in to see the results. It's also a place that you can't have expectations, especially in yourself. I thought, going into the trip, that I would get to ski some lines that I've seen in the movies...but I quickly had to put myself in check and take baby steps...AK is not the place to get ahead of yourself.

Montreal Part 2

JUNE 03 / 08

Soccer gaming

The trip was a sucess. After we did the photo shoot, which was pretty funny, TJ, Luke, and I got to check out the city. We ate Montreal smoked meat at Schwartz's, checked out some stores, watched a soccer game, and celebrated Bruno's birthday at his Italian restaraunt.

The lineup

Schwartz's was probably the highlight of the last few days in Montreal. We got lucky and went on a rainy day, so the line didn't wrap around the block, but we still had to wait for a while. Apparently they go through a ton of meat every day and have 6 to 7 tons being marinated in the room upstairs every week. That's a lot of meat.

Montreal

MAY 27 / 08

Montreal by night

I'm here in Montreal right now along with the rest of the Orage team (Luke, TJ, JP, and Phil). We're having meetings about all sorts of Orage stuff from adds to product. It's always interesting to hear companies talk. You can learn a lot from it and today I walked out of the office really inspired. I haven't quite put my finger on what I'm inspired about, but I think it's good. Like maybe I'm on to something, we'll see. Maybe I'm just really pumped and jealous of Reebok pumps.

I learned some new things about my team mates on this trip too. Like how TJ likes to order two meals for dinner and take one home for later. Or that Phil can be pressured into buying things he doesn't want or like. Luke has a great singing voice and JP sometimes speaks french with and english accent so people think he has really good french for an anglophone.

The trip isn't over yet. We still have lots to do and discuss, but for now, this post is over. I'll share more about Montreal later.

A Month Visiting America

MAY 07 / 08

Photos & story by Austrian team rider Josh Absenger

I enjoyed 1 Month in Lake Tahoe and Mt. Hood Oregon. I started the trip with 3 friends one fotographer and a filmer at the 2nd of april. After 2 days visiting San Francisco, the Fam went to Tahoe Vista. Our Cabin, called Cozy Cabin was just awesome. We partied just a few times there-haha!

Scene of the Winter Olympics Squaw Valley and Northstar were the targets of us.
Let´s talk about Squaw. This Resort offers a small but fine Terrainpark. Included are a small beginner kickerline, pro kickerline, superpipe, railgarden, and a jibpark.

Second park was Northstar at Tahoe. Norstar has an inmense number of fun obstacle like staircases, cars to slide, a lot of different rails, and a few good kickers. The run ends with an amazing superpipe. Great!

After 3 weeks we decided to drive to Mt. Hood Oregon. A snowstorm brought cold temperatures and a landscape like in a deep winter. We was waiting 4 better, but there was no improvement in the weather. I flight back to sunny California. A Giants Game was in the Art Park in San Francisco. It was such a burner.

See you next Winter in Cali.

Orage Pro/Am Team Update

MAY 01 / 08

Photos & story by Orage Team Manager Cody Lynge

With the winter season already complete in some areas and nearly complete in others, one might think that the Orage team too has packed it in for the year. Not true! Orage's athletes ski professionally all year round and just like any other person with any other job, do so nearly 365 days a year. That's not say that many of Orage's athletes don't take a little down time but it does mean that as soon as winter is complete in the Northern Hemisphere they'll head to one of the many North American summer camps to coach and hone their skills and from there will likely head to the Southern Hemisphere for yet another winter. Endless winters are the things that passionate skiers dream of and its why many of us still look to the summer for our winter fix.

Michelle Parker

With JP and Michelle coming straight out of Alaska after being there for several months filming with Poor Boyz, TJ re-habbing hard daily with an expected return date some time this summer to our young and talented team of amateurs all vying for their shot at one last Spring shoot at Mount Hood or Idaho's Schweitzer Pass, there is no question that this team of skiers, professional and amateur alike are collectively owning skiing right now.
For those of you who haven't been able to keep up to date on the team this winter see below for a list of highlights you might find interesting:

JP Auclair

1. JP goes off the grid in Japan and Alaska to develop what is said to be one of the stand out ski film parts of the year.

2. Michelle Parker comes back from a disappointing knee injury only to be welcomed by PBP as the premiere female skier in the film.

3. TJ Schiller prior to his January injury podiums twice and even through injury stays in the spotlight by conducting interviews, Masters Course builds and attending more P & P stops than any other Orage pro.

Phil Casabon

4. Phil Casabon has a break out year and podiums at both the US Open and Orage European Freeski Open by Swatch. He also joins the Orage team on their two major trips of the year, earning him a possible spotlight in next year's Freeskier Magazine, heads to China with Armada, is invited to the Jon Olsson Super Sessions and places third with team Armada at the Masters. There's no question, Phil is beginning to learn what it's all about to go pro.

5. Rosalind Groenewoud podium's at everything all over the world including the US Open, Nippon Open, OEFOBS and countless more World Cup events that earned her a 2nd overall on the World Cup Halfpipe circuit.

6. Additional Orage amateurs begin to shine as they join the Orage team in Switzerland for the Orage European Freeski Open by Swatch and link up again in Whistler during the TWSSF and the Orage Masters.

Tobi Reindl

7. Shortly after his trip to Switzerland a broken vertibre put an abrupt end to Tobi Reindls winter season. We wish Tobi a speedy recovery and hope to see him back on snow later this summer.

With Orage's athletes rocking the new lifestyle collection there's also no question that regardless of where they go, they'll be going in style. Stay tuned throughout the summer as Orage's team heads to Whistler to join forces with Camp of Champions, travels down under to lap it up in Wanaka New Zealand or visits South America's Chile and Argentina. It's winter somewhere.
